This month we’re kicking things off with tho cocktails.

In remembrance of black history month our first cocktail honors Alice H. Parker, an African American inventor, revolutionized home heating in 1919 with her gas-powered furnace, allowing for efficient and controlled heating in homes. Her innovation provided warmth and comfort, especially during cold winters, inspiring generations to embrace the beauty of heat and fire. This same spirit of warmth is captured in the Herbal Henny Hot Toddy, a drink that blends the richness of Hennessy—a cognac long favored in Black culture—with soothing herbal tea, honey, and spices. Just as Parker’s furnace transformed how people stayed warm, this cocktail embodies the tradition of gathering, resilience, and the deep-rooted appreciation for dark liquors in Black communities.

February just wouldn’t be the same without strawberries and chocolate. Whether it’s for Valentine’s Day or just an excuse to treat yourself, the combo is a classic—sweet, smooth, and a little indulgent. That’s exactly what the Strawberry Chocolatini is all about. With rich chocolate liqueur, fresh strawberries, and a splash of vodka, it’s the perfect way to sip and celebrate the season of love. Kitty Bernardo, a New Jersey native, grew up dreaming of bartending in New York City. Her passion for the craft was inspired by the film Coyote Ugly, which showcased the energy and confidence of women bartenders. Today, Kitty has brought her dream to life, working in New York and crafting creative, guest-focused cocktails.

In 2023, she created the Tiny Sparrow Martini for the first bar program she led in the city, reflecting her refined yet approachable style. Kitty currently works at Paradise Lost, where her flair for bold and innovative drinks shines. Drawing inspiration from her Filipino heritage, she often incorporates unique flavors into her creations, like her frozen banana Daiquiri, which features banana ketchup—a distinctly sweet and tangy Filipino ingredient.

Recognized for her dedication and originality, Kitty was named a finalist in PUNCH's Best New Bartenders of 2024, cementing her status as an exciting talent in the bartending world. For Kitty, it’s all about making drinks that guests truly enjoy and creating an unforgettable experience for every person who sits at her bar.
